HOUSE RULES JPENHS Band 2009

A. Definition. JPENHS Band is a School Campus Music Organization administered by a designate Band Adviser (BA). The Band members play the following instruments: Keyboard, drums, lead guitars. This band is also headed by a Band Leader (BL). It is expected that the Band Leader and band members will cooperate to follow the House Rules (HR).

B. Commitment. In order to maintain the highest level of music-making and performing, membership in JPENHS Band requires individual commitment at rehearsals and concerts. It is expected that members prepare individual parts on their own, for the group to most efficiently make use of rehearsal time and also to prepare music for
public presentation at the highest possible level.

C. Attendance/Subs. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals for participation in performances in any concert series. A concert series is defined as a series of rehearsals ending with a school performance and/or concert(s). Missing rehearsals for any concert series may result in not being able to participate in the performance. Such situations need to be discussed beforehand with the BA and BL. Members should notify the BA or BL as soon as possible about missing rehearsals. The BL has the responsibility to keep the section full, either by finding substitutes or allowing a member to do so.

D. Joining and Leaving. Students interested in joining JPENHS Band must be auditioned by
a group consisting of the BA and two other band members. An audition may be waived at the discretion of the BA. An opening in the group for new members may arise from, but is not limited to: a personal emergency, missed rehearsals or a leave of absence of an existing member, or the band’s expansion. There is no periodic review or audition required of members after joining, and existing band members prior to establishment of these House Rules are not subject to audition. Members should notify the BA and BL days before a leave of absence (a concert series or longer). Members on leave wanting to rejoin the group must contact the BA and BL for permission, though they need not re-audition. Readmission is based on available openings. Termination from JPENHS may result due to: lack of attendance or continual tardiness at rehearsals or concerts, inability to perform the music, and disruptive, disrespectful
or inconsiderate behavior that reflects poorly on the entire group. Decision on termination is decided by a committee consisting of the BA, the BL and a band member chosen by the “defendant”.

E. Seating/ Assigning of Instruments. Seating and Assigning of Instruments are determined by the BL, after consultation with the BA, for each concert series. Given the wide range of
individual playing levels, to achieve the end of fielding a balanced band that
performs to the best of its ability, and in the spirit of fairness, assigning parts may
involve seating rotation, with input from the members.

F. Touring. Musicians should meet to discuss all touring and gigs before the actual date. A plan will be made then in the event of prolonged touring to ensure all band members are in essence in the right place at the right time. Equipment checklists will be made and followed as well as set lists for shows. Musicians are responsible for things such as personal leaves from day jobs for touring etc. Musicians will meet with the BA on specific days and times to discuss issues pertaining to the tour work. Band members will not leave the tour group unless they have let other parties know where they are going. This is only a protection for the band as a whole should an accident or other uncontrollable circumstance arise.

G. Complaints. All complaints will be handled in an orderly manner. If Musicians or band members feel they are being treated unfairly outside the realm of this House Rule they may contact the BA and BL and the complaint will be addressed and remedied in an efficient manner.

H. Performance Etiquette. The BA shall choose dress colors and pre-arrange any special showmanship issues for performance (e.g. entering, bowing, standing, dancing). Band members are expected to purchase (or borrow if unavailable) band shirts for concerts. Please show due respect for performances at religious services and public ceremonies; please follow the rules of particular venues and take pride in our performance as one of the high class performing ensembles in our campus.

I________________________, a member of the JPENHS Band, do hereby pledge and oblige myself to uphold and cooperate to follow the House Rules of the band.

I set forth my hand in the presence of the Band Adviser (BA) and the Band Leader (BL) on the ____day of June 2009 in __________________________, Surigao del Sur Philippines.

Milcha and Earl serenaded the crowd with When You Say Nothing At All and No OrdinaryLove during the MANCOM last June 25, 2009 held at Social Hall Capitol Hills, Tandag City. The audience was mesmerized and awed the duo's performance and could not help not to show admiration. It's our first ever live performance. It was a big success! Here we are taking a pose as our little celebration to it. From left to right: Joey, Earl, Juniel, our band adviser Sir Zaldy Alima and Milcha.

JPENHS BAND

(Turn on the heat, Listen to the beat)

The band was made because of the joint forces and the desire of the students, who are inclined to music, to join in the said band of JPENHS. It is very regretful if their talents are wasted and not be utilized. This also serves as an opportunity for the students to be spending their time for music than harmful vices.

The students who signed the contracts to be a certified band member also thought and prepared themselves as band member. Therefore, they knew the band rules that should guide them to what are the do’s and don’ts in this organization and even though this is considered to be a young and fresh band, We’re sure that the members have many things in their mind that they hope they will accomplish in the future. Like as the saying goes, “ If there’s a will, there’s a way”.

OBJECTIVES:

The band and the organization behind aim to show and emphasize the member’s feelings and personality through the music they play every time they will be in the stage performing.

It also aims to make the listeners of the band to feel the same way as the band members and that every song that the band plays will give a short but meaningful message that should touch their hearts and consciousness.

The band itself also aims to bring joy and happiness to everyone who listens to their music. In this way, the listeners are not the only one who are the benefiters but also the members because their attention are in music not in bad vices.
